I recall Christmas Eve family gatherings with all the cousins. It was one of the few times we saw the Walkers each year.

Doug, I remember going to Detroit, but I also remember Santa coming to our house in Fort Wayne. You, Sherrie, and Lynn would remember the details better than me. I wonder if we came to Detroit when we lived in Battle Creek or if we were on an every other year plan. It’d be fun to get the cousins together to reminisce. Thanks for your input.

Yes, we also have our tradtions and I grew up with wonderful memories of our family traditions .
Happy belated Christmas to you Joy. We pull out of Indiana today ….heading south to the Keys where, we are hoping, the temperature is a number bigger than our age
Looking forward to spending time with you as well. Sending our love, Dave & Sally

Just reading your comment. As I wrote this blog I was thinking about how traditions change as children get married and have their own children and grand children. I’d love to hear some of your family traditions. Yes. Hoping to spend some time with you soon. Safe travels.

As a child, we opened our presents Christmas morning, ate breakfast, dressed, and headed to the grandparents’ houses. Both sets of grandparents were nearby, and though I loved the food and time with family, I couldn’t wait to get back home to play with presents.
Several years later, my mother remarried, and my stepfather started a new tradition which we’ve continued, …a scavenger hunt with clues to your most cherished gift. I have found memories of our sons, Christian and Caleb, in their pj’s in the back yard. The dog found the clue, and sticky note stuck to his doghouse, which he had in his mouth, and was wagging at the boys. It was as if the dog was saying , “Look what I’ve got! Come and get it!” The boys chased him down, got the clue, only to realize they ran right past their gift, a 4-wheeler. Hilarious!
Christmas is not the same without our kids, and now grandson. We expect all to stay home Christmas day, and enjoy the day not rushing around. We get together day after Christmas and spend time time enjoying the special day. Christmas Eve is for church service by candlelight.
